Why Hiring Magical Katrina Gives Your Party the Chills It Deserves
Harry Houdini died on Halloween.
October 31, 1926. Arguably the most famous magician who ever lived, gone on the spookiest night of the year. Ever since, magicians around the world have treated Halloween as a night to remember him, and some still gather for séances in his honor.
So yes, I take this holiday personally.
I’m Katrina, better known as Magical Katrina, a magician and mentalist based in Las Vegas. Halloween is the one night of the year when everyone is in the mood for mystery, and mystery happens to be my specialty. If you’re planning a Halloween magic show for a costume party, an office celebration, or a themed event, I’d love to tell you exactly what I bring, how it works, and what you get when you invite me to your party.
And before we’re done, I’ll let you in on what I think the scariest thing at any Halloween party really is. It isn’t the fake blood.
What You Get When You Book Me for a Halloween Magic Show
Let’s start with the heart of it. When you hire me for a Halloween magic show, you’re not getting someone who performs at your guests from a corner. You’re getting interactive magic and mentalism woven into your party, tailored to your crowd, your space, and how spooky you want the night to feel.
Here are the services I offer for Halloween events. We’d choose the right mix together before anything is booked.
Strolling Magic for Costume Parties
Costume parties are mingling parties. People wander, admire each other’s outfits, and try to guess who’s under the mask. I move through the room and perform for small groups, so a vampire, an astronaut, and someone dressed as a surprisingly convincing houseplant can all share the same impossible moment. One group gasps, the next turns to see why, and the energy spreads on its own. At a busy costume party, strolling magic is often the backbone of a Halloween magic show.
Close-Up Magic for Halloween Dinners
For an intimate gathering or a candlelit Halloween dinner, I perform close-up magic inches from your guests, often in their own hands. Borrowed objects behave in ways they shouldn’t. Signed cards turn up where they can’t possibly be. Add candlelight, and a smaller Halloween magic show gives every guest a front-row seat.
Mentalism With an Eerie Edge
This is where Halloween and my work truly meet. Mentalism is the art of seemingly reading minds, predicting choices, and playing with perception, and its history is tangled up with séances, spirit mediums, and candlelit Victorian parlors. Houdini himself spent years exposing mediums who claimed to contact the dead.
I don’t claim supernatural powers. But a guest thinking of a secret and hearing me say it aloud, on Halloween night, with the lights low? That lands in a very particular way.
A Featured Mentalism Moment
Some hosts want one big centerpiece. A featured mentalism segment, timed for when the room is full and the mood is right, can become the moment everyone remembers. If your Halloween magic show is meant to be the main event, this is usually where our planning conversation begins.
Virtual Halloween Shows
Have a remote team? A virtual Halloween magic show lets everyone join in costume from home and take part in interactive magic and mentalism on screen.
The Benefits of Hiring Magical Katrina for Your Halloween Party
Plenty of things can fill an evening. Here’s what makes bringing me in different.
Your Guests Don’t Just Watch, They Take Part
My magic happens with your guests, not just in front of them. They make the choices, hold the objects, and think the thoughts I reveal. A participatory Halloween magic show keeps people engaged in a way decorations and playlists can’t.
Spooky Without Being Scary
Not everyone loves jump scares, and that’s fine. The chills I create come from wonder and the unexplained, so guests who’d never walk through a haunted house can still enjoy every minute. You decide how eerie the night gets, and I adjust. A Halloween magic show should feel like a treat, not a dare.
Nobody Gets Embarrassed
At an office party or a gathering of friends, the volunteer should always come away looking good. Making people the hero of the moment, never the butt of the joke, is something I care deeply about. That’s especially important when your boss, your clients, or your shy cousin might end up involved.
It Breaks the Ice Fast
Halloween parties often start with awkward hovering, half-recognized faces behind masks, and clusters of people who already know each other. Strolling magic gives strangers something to share right away, and quieter guests an easy, low-pressure way to join in. It’s one of the quickest wins a Halloween magic show can give a host.
It Works in Loud, Busy Rooms
Costume parties are lively and unpredictable. Close-up and strolling formats thrive in that environment, and I’m used to reading a room where witches, zombies, and superheroes are all talking at once.
It’s Built Around Your Party
No two Halloween events are alike. I’ll ask about your guests, your schedule, your venue, and your theme, so the Halloween magic show you get fits your night instead of feeling like a canned routine dropped into it.
Your Guests Leave With a Story
Long after the costumes go back in the closet, people remember the moment their own friend’s secret was revealed. That’s the kind of story that gets retold at work on Monday, and it keeps your party in people’s minds long after the decorations come down.
Who Books a Halloween Magic Show With Me?
My Halloween work tends to suit these kinds of gatherings. Whether it fits yours depends on the details, so think of these as starting points.
Company Halloween parties where you want more than a costume contest, and a Halloween magic show can get different teams talking
Adult costume parties at home, in a rented space, or in a private room
Themed nights at restaurants, lounges, and event venues
Client and networking events that use October as an excuse to be a little more playful
Remote team celebrations that need something better than a costume contest judged by video tile
Planning something for families or younger guests? Mention it when you reach out, and we’ll talk through whether it’s the right fit.
Why Trust Me With Your Halloween Night
You’re inviting someone into a party where people are relaxed and having fun, so you should know who they are.
I’ve been performing for more than 13 years across over 20 countries. My work includes events connected to Formula 1, the Olympics, Porsche, Prada, and Ritz-Carlton. I’ve appeared on Penn & Teller: Fool Us and Masters of Illusion, and I’ve won five magic awards, including PCAM Family Entertainer of the Year. I’m also a member of The Magic Circle in London and the Academy of Magical Arts in Hollywood.
What that means for your Halloween magic show is simple: you’re getting someone who’s comfortable in front of corporate leaders, luxury brand audiences, and rowdy costume parties alike, and who knows how to read each one.
How We’ll Plan Your Halloween Magic Show Together
Booking me is straightforward. When you reach out, we’ll talk through:
Your date and venue. Halloween dates go fast, and this year October 31 falls on a Saturday, so the surrounding weekend is especially busy.
Your guest count. Ten friends at a dinner and a hundred coworkers at a costume party call for different approaches.
Your schedule. Magic during arrivals breaks the ice. A featured moment works well once everyone is settled, often around a costume contest.
Your setting. Moody lighting is great, but guests need to see what’s happening in front of them. For a featured moment, a microphone and lowered music help.
Your spook level. Playful with a wink, or genuinely unsettling in the fun way? Tell me, and tell me if anyone would rather not be singled out.
Your theme. Classic horror, murder mystery, something of your own? Depending on what you have in mind, we can explore how the performance might complement it.
Those details let me recommend a Halloween magic show that suits your night.
The Scariest Thing at a Halloween Party
So here’s what I promised.
The scariest thing at a Halloween party isn’t the skeleton by the door, the fog machine, or the guy in the extremely realistic werewolf mask. People know those are fake. That’s why they enjoy them.
The truly spooky moment is the one nobody can explain.
When a guest’s secret thought gets revealed, or a prediction sealed hours earlier turns out to be exactly right, a strange little pause falls over the room. People look at each other. Someone laughs nervously. For just a second, costume-party fun and genuine mystery feel very close together.
Houdini insisted there was nothing supernatural behind any of it, and he was right. But I like to think he’d still enjoy that pause. Creating it is my favorite part of every Halloween magic show I perform.
